Leviticus

How God's People Ought To Live: "Be ye holy for I am holy."

Old Testament ยท Pentateuch

Summary

Preceded by Abrahamic Covenant, Redemption of Israel by blood through faith, and Acceptance of the law at Sinai. Leviticus was written to answer: How does God want them to live? Under what conditions may they approach Him? It reveals the principles by which God wants His people to live. The law revealed the absolute holiness of God. To enjoy fellowship with a holy God requires holiness. God explains how a holy people ought to live in the midst of a heathen world--their lifestyle should be distinct. They are to remain separate from the contamination of the heathen nations around them.
